HTML form - GET method max size

I have a javascript function which pass some form's variables to a php script opened into a pop up window.
I've used method GET ("...","...","...")) since I want my pop up window without tollbar, locationbar,... (Otherwise I would have used method="POST" and target="_blank" into my form).
The arguments which are passed to the php script increase with time. So into few time I will reach a size of 1024 byte (I've read that it is the max size of arguments  which can be passed with method get).
Assuming that we have full control over the server, is there a way to encrease the "max (get method) argument size" (this 1024 byte).

    As i recall the query string limit varies from browser to browser and nothing you can do server side will change the limit as it is browser dependant.

    Unless it is essential to use the query string you might instead consider storing the data in session variables, eg:

    session_start(); //initialize the session data

    $_SESSION['myvar'] = "a value";

    You will then be able to access the data on other pages (as long as session_start(); is present at the top of the page) simply using:

    echo $_SESSION['myvar'];

    As a mere information on I.E. 6.0 do you know this limit?

    According to:

    the limit is: 2,083 characters

    That said in the past i have heard variations of this, 1000 characters, 255 characters. It's not very well documented information.
