I would like to set up a network between two buildings. They are 1200 feet apart with nothing blocking line of sight.
I currently have a cat 5 network along with an ingenious bridge  to a existing wireless internet connection and a port hub set up at location1

Can I set up 2 cheap Wireless Routers with two directional antennas?
What db antenna's do I need? I have a Yagi 14 db antenna already

I found an DLink DI-624  in the $40 range will that work?

    Accepted Solution

DI-624 with Yagi 14Db will work just great for the 1200 feet (about 300 meters)
Make sure nothing is blocking your line of sight.
DI-624 is the best in its class.

Do I need any antenna on the other end?
Do I need to disable routing on one of the routers?
How can I test to see if they are connected?

You need 2 x antennas otherwise this may work and may not ...
You can use it in the bridge or router mode, depending on your needs.

Easiest way to test - try to connect to the web-interface on the other side device.

You may need two access points. Most routers do not include the point to point mode in the firmware.

For 1200 ft, use identical flat panel antennas on both ends.
For setup read the AP manual.
