PalmOs - Tungsten-T  Hangs when I start MemoPad.

This is an original Tungsten T, with the PalmOS software as supplied with it, HotSyncing to Palm Desktop (again, as supplied with it) on an XP workstation.

And it's just dandy EXCEPT if I try tos tart the MemoPad application, the T just crashes and has to be reset. My work-around is to assocated the Memo button with the graphicy "Notepad" rather than the text memopad but that's not useful in so many ways.

I've tried

- completey resetting and re-installing the T
- removing and re-installing Palm Desktop
- deleting all the data from the Memopad file area

I've looked for patches on Palm websites but none appear remotely relevant.

It's been like this for some months but I have  a job coming up where the memopad is going to be very useful if not critical and it'd be nice to find what's causing it and kill it!

    Hello Ccomely,

Is this Palm still under warranty?

If so, Palm should fix it on your behalf so that you do not need to struggle with it yourself.  It appears that the memory area that is allocated for the memo application has become corrupted, which would explain why it fails even after reinstalling firmware, as the memo application is likely being copied into the same corrupt memory addresses each time.  I might be wrong but I think there is nothing you can do about that really other than getting the unit replaced by Palm.

As a long shot, you could try this program to see if you can locate any troublesome files related to your problem:

    Good luck.

The Tungsten T has been known to have this problem.  It actually stems from the bluetooth module in it.   Mine did the exact same thing, it's now sitting in a drawer and I use a Treo 600 now.

I know this isn't really a solution, but at least you know you're not alone.

No, it's LONG past warranty age.

And if removing the bluetooth could fix it that wouldn't help as I need bluetooth.

    Thanks chaps.
