Granting user rights to install local applications.

I want to grant a help desk user the rights to install programs locally. I dont want to have him use GPO's to install software. Does anyone have a script to add users to local groups? Or is their an easier way to do this?

He would have to be added to the local admin group on each machine. You can do this via the following startup script:

net localgroup "Administrators" "domain\user" /ADD

The other way to do it is to use restricted groups, but I personally find restricted groups to be overkill and complex, but other people use it as the perferred method...just personal choice.
