how to re-install an activex add-on

we run crystal reports thru a webserver.  when i accessed the site before, it installed the activex viewer automatically.  i am having some problems running the report now and i want IE to re-install the viewer again.  how can i make IE display that "do you want to install...." screen again?  i have deleted the DLL file in the downloaded programs folder and I still can't make IE to display the screen.

i went to manage add-ons and when i placed the cursor on the DLL file, the update activex button is disabled.

How current is WindowsUpdate, which versions installed?  Problem may also be Firewall related, among many others.  These links may help you, I hope.

Unsure also about version of Crystal Reports, etc.  It sounds as though the viewer was removed/dll removed but not unregistered, these links may help you further, I hope.
