FP Upload or ftp

It seems that on occasions I have trouble with my FP uploads so the question is What exactly is the difference between uploading using FP and ftp.  I do realize the the FP  extensions permit you to use FP forms etc. but apart from this exactley what are the pro and cons between FP upload and the ftp within FP?  Also, if it is beneficial to use ftp, is the ftp system within FP good and why does it take so much longer if using the ftp system.

If you use FTP - this will sometimes corrupt the extensions and if you use FP forms - the forms are usually the first things to go.  FP uses port 80 (HTTP) to publish your website.  It publishes other files that you normally do not see (in the _vti_cnf folders, etc).  FTP uses port 21 (if I remember right).  FTP was created to handle file transfers of course - especially large transfers.  If you are having problems publishing, you might go thru your control panel & reset your FP extensions.

Hullo Corey long time since we were in touch.  How are you.  I posted this question as it seems that I did have a problem with _vti_cnf.  Basically I was merging 2 vBulletin databases.  vB say to upload the merge software by ftp but I used FP anyway as generally I do not have a problem.  In fact I originally upload vbulletin through from FP via FP.  It worked a dream.  On this occasion, problems so I contacted vB support, very nice people, and they said that I had a _vti_cnf file or folder.  Anyway I had a good look for the via FP and the ftp and also throgh my consting control panel.  Could not fine it anywhere.  I suppose that I should ask, how do you find and see these files and folders.  After all, I had a specific location as to where the _vti_cnf file or folder was but as mentioned, still could not see it.  I've put the website link below, if you take a look, you will see a difference now.

You have to actually look at these thru your browser on your computer.  Double click on my computer and then drill down to where these files are stored.  Just keep in mind, that you cannot change the any files in the _vti_cnf though.

And I am fine :)  I was wondering how things were working out for you :)  I do hope things are well!
