Working with an asp page.

My boss gave me a asp page for me to use as a template for all of the web forms.  The thing I don't understand is, is that I have already made several webforms and I don't know how to insert the template.

I noticed that when I open the template.asp page within VB.NET I can't use any WebForms only HTML.  I understand why, but, what can I do to turn the page into a aspx or something?  I'm not good at ASP, hardly at all.

Also, I have changed the asp to aspx extension but when I try to run it, I get a "parse" error.  I have no idea what that is.

ASP pages really don't convert over to asp.net.  The reason you cannot use webcontrols is because VS.net doesn't know you want to work with ASP.net, there is a lot of things you would have to make first.  Rather than doing that,  I would suggest creating a brand new webform and copying over the design elements you would like to keep.  You should be able to use webcontrols then, also you'll be able to access the code when you right-click on the new file and select "view code"
