Control Canon DR-3060 with VBA via ISIS or TWAIN Driver

Hey guys, my company would like to set up a document scanner and have each scanned document be linked/related to an entry in a database.  To do this, I would like to use MS Access VBA.

I was thinking of having a form in the database with a text box and a button.  The user would enter the number related to the database entry then click the button.  The program would then automatically initialize the scanner, scan in all documents, and then save the documents using a file name based on the number entered by the user.

Can this be done?  Don't worry about the text-box and the simple VBA, I'm trying to figure out how to control the Canon DR-3060 using either the TWAIN or the ISIS driver.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: I'm not a VB programmer, so your question may be more appropriate in one of the visual basic TAs, but I know it can be done, and that Windows Imaging Architecture (WIA) provides for this. Here's a couple of things I found on the web that may get you on track:

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/stillimage/WIA-arch.mspx - about the WIA.
http://www.dosadi.com/vbtwaincode.htm has a nice example of VB code for multi-page scanning with ADF (and they sell a nice developer's kit - be sure to look at it).
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/3rdparty/html/isc_method_startscan_example.asp is an example from Microsoft's site.
http://www.geocities.com/smigman.geo/mci/download.html (look for the one called "SCANNER, Digital Camera Code")

I know that's not much, but maybe enough to get you started.

Cheers,

And don't forget to search this site for "visual basic scanning" or "visual basic twain"
