Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed witin Windows XP Pro
Hi Everyone:
I am needing help uninstalling a program within Add/Remove Programs on a friend's computer. Each time we attempt to uninstall or remove it, we get the following error message: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in Safe Mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.
Any help on this matter will be welcomed and appreciated. I look forward to hearing from everyone regarding this post.
Thank you
George

Hi There:
Thank you so much for your prompt replies. I found your suggestions reasonable and certainly worthy to try out. I am confident your suggestions will be fruitful in the resolution of this situation. I especially appreciate the link to the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Uility. My friend has been experiencing a long history of Installer issues even when trying to install programs. This program will certainly prove helpful.
Thanks again.

Thanks so much for the reply. The name of the program is Microsoft SQL Server Manager. Incidentally, if I do not see the file uninstall.exe within the folder, what should I do? Should I just simply delete all files within the folder and remove the folder? If I manually delete the entire program from the Program Files Folder, will it also disappear from the Add/Remove Programs section?
Any followup on this will be appreciated.
Thank you.
George
