Do I need a special licence when distributing an Excel add-in?
I would like to distribute an Excel add-in, which is just a special type of Excel worksheet with some VB code included. Do I need some kind of Microsoft developer's licence or some other type of licence to distribute (or sell) such add-in, or is it sufficient to have a valid standard MS Office licence? Or do I need something like MS Office developers edition?
Thanks for your comments.

Well - I suppose that the client has its own Excel licence. I am not ditributing Excel together with my XLA add-in, I am only distributing the XLA plugin itself. Is it ok, when I only have a single Excel licence?
You do not need any office licenses, but you need to have a license to VS.net and the Office Automation package that includes those excel addin projects.

Check for copyright for this ad-in. If there's none (or you have permission from it's developer), then you can do what you want. :-)

Best bet would be to contact microsoft as they will give you all the info you require :)

Maybe I didn't make it clear enough: I am the developer of the plugin. The question is, whether one can distribute plugins created Excel and its Visual Basic, having only bought Microsoft Office. Or do I need at least MS Office Developers Edition or whatever else?
Thanks.
Thanks.
