changing options in Attachment Dialog box

We've got a richtext field that holds a Word file as an attachment. When the attachment is double-clicked it brings up the Attachment Dialog box with the options to View, Open, Edit, Save and Delete. I've been asked to modify this behaviour, so that the only option available is Viewing, or viewing happens directly with the double-click event.
People are still allowed to delete and save the attachment, but need to do that using keyboard (delete) and drag & drop (to save to desktop).
Is this even possible? if so, how?
This for a Notes client only database.

Modifying the behaviour is not easy. You can think about some work arounds...

Hide the attachment using a hidden section, THen try to construct the URL which will open the same document with the option " Automatically launch the first attachment:

Partha is right: you can't control that behaviour. Once the attachment is available, you'll see all options.
Hiding the attachment will offer you the only way out! Not sure how to trigger viewing it though.....

Best way to hide attachments: add a computed for display field called "$V2AttachmentOptions", text value "0".

But crak AFAIK $v2attachments doesn't work in notes.

went back to having the word .doc file as an embedded object. That's what it was in verson 1 of the database. SOme users didn't like that, so it got changed to an attachment. That confused more people because when they opened/edit it (throu the attachment dialog box) and made any changes, then saved.. it was saving to a temp file buried in the users documents and settings folder, which wouldn't get reattach to the database.
just goes to prove, you can't satisfy everyone all the time.

cheers

I haven't used it lately, but that sounds familiar, yes!
Can't be the first time I've bumped my head on that! Some things I just don't learn... I keep reinventing them the hard way!
