RequiredFieldValidator working in reverse.

I have a strange thing going on here.  The RequiredFieldValidator is working in Reverse.  It throws the error message when I have text in the box and doesn't when the box is empty.  The text box is within a panel if that makes any difference.  Is there a boolean setting or something that needs to be

    I'm looking through the properties of both the text box and the RequiredFieldValidator controls and not seeing anything that would cause that.

    can  u post the html code of it...

    and make sure you do nto have any initial value set for the required field validator

    Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  I found that I had the regular instead of required validator.  dah.
