Two DHCP servers having conflicts
We have two dhcp servers in a windows 2000 network. One subnet with overlap in the address pools. Some addresses show up in both address leases as the same number, some address leases only show up in one dhcp server and some addresses show up as a conflicting address in both servers. So, one computer keeps getting assigned an ip address that another dhcp server already gave out. How exactly are two dhcp servers supposed to be set up? Should the share the same pool, or should the subnet be split with each getting half the addresses or something similar to that? Thanks
also how you subnetting whats the config

Thanks. We have two so that if one goes down we have a backup. Just a normal subnet 192 address with 255.255.255.

Here is some info on Configuring DHCP. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/library/ServerHelp/1cba3948-5605-4a19-89ef-8762cdcdc7ad.mspx
To configure 2 DHCP server the scope should not overlap. Create 1 server with a scope of 80% of the addresses (192.168.100.50 - 192.168.100.190) and the other to lease out (192.168.100.191 - 192.168.100.254) that way they do not overlap and you have a backup DHCP server if one goes down

why do you need 2 dhcp servers.
