Easy points: Does this have a DSL Modem?

Hi,

please have a look at this product: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?LIN-BEFSR4

My knowledge is fairly limited when it comes to routers, etc; does this one have a built-in DSL modem? Or must I attach an existing one to it?

Thanks,
Rob.

I see nothing in the specs to suggest that it has a built in DSL modem.  Further, if it did, I really don't think they'd be calling it a CABLE/DSL router.

No, it doesn't.  They just add Cable/DSL router to the name for marketing purposes.

Look under the "Features" section on the second page.  "connects your DSL or Cable Modem to"

So you will still need a DSL modem.  Your ISP should provide you with one.

and I always recomend using a modem provided by your ISP as it assures you that if something happens, your ISP will provide support for your device.  If you go aftermarket for a modem, they may tell you ..."sorry it isn't a modem supported by us."

No you would need still a modem. This is just to "divide"  the modems connections to dispurse the WAN connection to all of your computers....

Thanks all; I've doubled the points, so Leew gets the 250, and the other 250 split between the other two. :-)

Thank you.
