Mac and windows comparision questions...

I was just wondering,
What is the differences between monitors on a Mac machine and windows based machines?
Unlike windows machines, applications on mac monitors look clean..
Is there any difference between resolutions on mac monitors?

Apple has been shipping digital interface LCDs for the last 4 years.   These DVI digital
interfaces provide superior performance compared to the inexpensive analog LCD usually
found on PCs.  You can get DVI graphics cards and displays for PCs as well.

But the hardware is only one facet.  Apple's Quartz imaging model also provides
excellent display characteristics.  Microsoft claims that the long-awaited Longhorn
OS will have similar high quality imaging model ... in 2006.

Just to follow up on the thread so far - you can read about quartz on this section of Apple's website:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/quartzextreme/

and going through that area via the sections listed here that appear on that page.

"New Features        Overview        Developer Tools        Tech Specs        Upgrade"

For further information, you can also go to Apple's support site

http://www.apple.com/support/

and search for quartz.

There is an interesting segment on Quartz in the recent Ars Technica review of Mac OS X 10.4
