no you don't need anything extra to get connected to a wirelles network.
all you have to do is to get in the vicinity of a base station/hot spot and your integrated wifi adapter will see it.

thanks, could you write me how to get know in Windows XP if there is integrated wifi adapter in my notebook. Where is some information about it in Windows XP?
I'm assuming you have an Acer laptop.

First, right click My Computer and select Properties.  Click the hardware tab and then device manager.  Scroll down to network adapters and expand that section.  You should see one for your wired connection, and if you have a wifi one for that as well.

If you don't see wifi, follow the next section.  Enabling it may cause windows to plug and play it, causing it to be listed there.

If you do have a wifi, you need to enable it.  Some models of Acer laptops turn off their wifi during startup when on battery mode.  Most likely yours is turned off.  You have to get into the Acer options menu by pressing one of the four buttons close to the screen on right hand side.  In this menu, there is an opition to enable wifi.  My mother-in-law has an Acer laptop, and I get calls all the time about the wifi not working.  While I'm not 100% sure about where those settings are, that should push you in the right direction.

Good luck.
