How do create multiple columns in a select tag?

I need to have multiple columns in a drop down select list. Is this possible? Can you give me an example of how to do this?

I am currently populating my select list with ASP, but I only have one column in the select list and I would like to populate it with a couple more columns from my ASP query or recordset... Any ideas on how to do this?

Hi Ja67
You can't do multiple columns in a dropdown in normal HTML, BUT you can make it look similar by spacing the items out (it's not always so pretty, but it does the job, sometimes). The problem is that you don't know how wide the characters are (as each client might be using a different font/font setting) - so you have to "guess" on the spacing or just just a couple of spaces.
A different possibility would be to use an ActiveX-Control (won't work on Macs / non-IE-Browser) or a Java-Object (kinda over the top for just a drop-down). Also you could use a normal table and let the user pick there (depending on your page layout) or even use two dropdowns (i.e. one for the category, one for the final element).
Many possibilities :)
