I need to either start a program synchronously, or start a program asynchronously and be able to keep checking to see if it has closed yet, preferably using a means that is Win98-friendly (as long as it works under Windows).<br />

I would prefer a method that is asynchronous and checks, as I would be able to keep pumping system messages for the originating program.
