Create a seamless border between two cells ?

I have a table with 1 row and two columns.  I would like the left cell to be a red background with a number generated by a java applet.  I would like the right cell to have a graphic (which looks like text) that has a red background in the image file, so that it looks like one continuous red row across the sheet.

Example text:

74 days until your voice can be heard !

(I know that the java code can generate the entire text, but I have a specific font that I want to use in the graphic.)

What I currently get is the red left cell, then a white gap between the cells, then the right graphic.  How can I get rid of the whitespace ?

Web site needs to up by Tuesday - so I really appreciate all help!

Try modifying your <table> tag to include "cellpadding=0" and "cellspacing=0". This usually will eliminate the gap between cells in a table.

Let me know if this helps!

Would it look like this ?

          <td width="624" bordercolor="#FF0000" bgcolor="#FF0000" cellpadding=0" and "cellspacing=0">
            <div align="center"></div></td>

If so it didn't work :(
As grogman said, add it to the <table> tag, not the <td> tag. I would also add border="0".  Also, get rid of the 'and' in the tag.  Like this:

Example: <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
Thanks, stengelj, I should have been a little clearer in my example. Hope this helps you, girbeaud!
