Can't access site

Okay - our active directory domain here @ the office is say.... "xyz.com". If I browse to "www.xyz.com" in a browser I get a page cannot be displayed, however if I browse to "xyz.com" i get one of our servers. What do I need to set and where do I need to set it so that no matter if users type in "xyz.com" or "www.xyz.com" they are directed to our server here that has the site on it?

We are running Windows 2000 AD, exchange, dns, etc. etc.

Add an A record in your DNS for www and point it top the IP address of the server.

If you ping www.xyz.com from the client, what happens?  From the DNS server?

Okay you added an 'A'  record for www correct?

Please power down the workstation, and then try pinging it again, also make sure your workstation is using that DNS server as the primary DNS server.

Then log into the console at the DNS server, then try pinging box www.

Please post the results of this test.

Have you tried running "nslookup www.xyz.com"?  You should get something like this:

Default Server:<Your DNS Server>
Address:<IP of your DNS Server>

Name:    www.xyz.com
Address:  x.x.x.x

okay - i got the www working. Now, how can I make it so that when they browse to just "xyz.com" it goes to the same server and not to the DNS servers?

Here is the nslookup
Server:  server1.xyz.com
Address:  10.1.3.4

Name:    xyz.com
Addresses:  10.1.3.4, 10.1.3.7

Here is the one for www.xyz.com
Server:  server1.xyz.com
Address:  10.1.3.4

Name:    www.xyz.com
Address:  10.1.3.8
