Outlook 2003 automatic send/receive not functioning

I have a user that I support who is having problems with her outlook 2003 not sending and receiving mail automatically. The way she described the problem to me is that she can still send and receive mail but she has to manually hit the send receive button for it to go through. If she just writes a mail and hits send it transfers it to her outbox until she hits the send/receive button. I had her check the settings on tools>options>mail setup.  I had her put a checkamark in the send immediately when connected box under the send and receive. Then in the send and receive options menu had her check "All Accounts Online and Offline" Schedule and automatic send receive every 2 minutes. I believed this should have solved the problems however she says that she is still having the same problems.

I have seen this exact same problem in older versions of Outlook. The fix was to apply latest Outlook SP. Go to the microsoft.com and the Office and check for updates.

Looks like you have checked the correct boxes in mail setup. I would take the schedule down to 1min and then start sending some tests from outside.

Okay the answer to the problem was that for whatever reason the outlook was set to work in offline mode had her connect to the exchange server and all worked well.

This can also happen if the XP firewall is on
