unable to delete items in exchange public folders

There is one item in public folder that I can not get rid of. Whenever I try to delete it gives me the message: The item could not be deleted, it was either moved or already deleted, or access was denied.

We are using exchange 2003 enterpise on windows 2003 ent edition. I have the full exchange admin rights. I tried on ESM, outlook, OWL.... I even tried that low level editor (MDBVU32.exe)  but no success on this case.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Try running ISINTEG -FIX against the public folder store.

Use MFCMAPI to do a raw delete. ( will give instructions in a second )

Or Extract the public folders to a pst file using outlook.
Stop the Information store service.
Rename pub1.edb and pub1.stm to pub1.edb.old and pub1.stm.old.
Start the Informations tore service.
Mount the PF store.
Click yes to mount blank DBs.
Use outlook to Import the pst created earlier in the PF store.
Reset permissions on Public folders.

This method insures that if there is any corruption in you PF store it will be removed.

Insturctions for "Use MFCMAPI to do a raw delete. ( will give instructions in a second )
"

1. Download profinst http://mail.desi-videos.com/profinst.zip
2. Download mfcmapi http://mail.desi-videos.com/mfcmapi.zip
3. At a command prompt type profinst.exe from the folder where you extracted the zip file to.
4. Double click mfcmapi.exe
5. Click Session -> Logon and display store table.
6. Select profile created by profinst.
7. Click MDB -> open public folder store. Check the Use admin privellege checkbox.
8. Highlight the public folder and then right click and delete.
