"Send As" function & hidden mailbox

Can you use the "send as" function against a mailbox that is hidden?

I understand that when you type the hidden mailbox name into the From: line
that it won't be able to resolve it, but what if you type in the hidden
mailbox's SMTP address? Should that work?

Just create an item containing the hidden mailbox info in your Contacts folder.

When I try your suggestion, I get a pop up that says "You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user"

I am running Exchange 2000 with Outlook 2000 client.

I am the Exchange Admin and Domain Admin. I have Full Control on the security tab of the AD\Exchange Account which grants me "Send As" permissions.

If the mailbox is unhidden, I don't have any problems sending as the user.

I tried your suggestion from another client and it worked fine. Must be a config issue on my machine.  I'll award you the points. Thanks.
