asked on

private connection

Hi All,

I would like to ask if there is a way to make a connection between two PC,s that connected to the internet through ADSL connection.
I mean, each compouter has an access to the internet separetly through ADSL Router. and eaxh one in acountry, is there any way to make a remote access from one pc to the otherone.
Note: each pc is located in a LAN and \each pc has a fake ip address, but the router has a real ip address but it changes every 15 minutes.

 Thanks

Hi deyaa,

you can use a dynamic dns service such as www.dyndns.org which will let you use a name like client1.dyndns.org and resolve it to your ever changing IP addresses

you could then set up port forwarding on your router - if it supports it and is necessary - to forward whatever it is you need

such as port 3389 for RDP

can you give us more information of what you want to do - do you know what program you want to use to connect to each PC?

dear  redseatechnologies

 thanks for your response.

The OS on ther two pc's is windows 2003 server, and I would like to make a full remote access and direct tcp/ip link to make a database link between them.
My ADSL router supports PORT forwarding.

thanks
Hi deyaa,

does it matter if the connection on this database will be broken every 15 minutes?

Yes, because there will be an application working on the DB. but if the disconnection time is very small , maybe it will not affect.

No I can't, Static IP addresses provided with Leased Lines Only, which is very expensive.
But I have got the idea from you.
 Thanks again

I don't know if any service like dyndns will work properly if your ip changes all 15 minutes. I suggest you first change your ISP for one that is more continuous. Normally an IP should not change so long you are connected. If it does allways change then the ISP is actively trying to prevent you from doing what you want to do, and even if you can get a good connection using dyndns they will probably try keeping up to date with ways to prevent you from connecting to your system via the internet, which will mean you allways have to try keeping up with the new blocking methods of your ISP.
i can see no reason for an ISP to do that - their customers would have problems and they are generating more traffic for themselves

weird

thanks deyaa
Maybe they sell a more expensive service which allows for such activity. If they do, they need some way of getting the customers to buy the more expensive connection, and not do the same thing with the cheap version. I supsect they will also restrict other things on the cheap service, like P2P etc.
Another reason may be to make more difficult for hackers to wreak havok on the customer's systems...
