Did you login by another username (profile) ?

no i didnt
It might depend on a corruption of your user profile: are you able to enter as a local administrator? If so, you can rename your old profile as profilename.OLD under Documents and Settings, than logout and login again with your usual profile. You'll be treated as a new user, thereby getting the Default User profile applied. Log in again as local administrator and move your personal files from profilename.OLD to profilename.
Next time you'll log with your username, you should obtain a fully restored workspace.
Hope it helps, Elbereth
I also agreed that your user profile corrupted. And how about the event log, any error message ?
