Win 2K system hangs on startup at the SiS screen. If system is then rebooted Win loads perfectly and all seems ok. Next reboot the hang-up occurs. This happens on every alternate reboot.
No apparent viruses.
Any ideas?

At what stage does the SiS screen appear, is it before the PC does the check on the IDE drivers and total memory? Is it a big logo that appears during bootup? If it is, could go into the BIOS settings you may be able to disable this splash screen so that it shows you the various tests and checks the PC does during boot, and that might help you locate the problem.
