mail pickup service exchange 2003
Pardon my ignorance:
I am running exchange 2003 and I frequently see email with the following in the header:
Microsoft Mail Internet Headers Version 2.0
Received: from mail pickup service by 2kbp241ex.siskinrehab.org with Microsoft SMTPSVC;
Can someone tell me what the mail pickup service is?

I do not know of an option to switch off that functionality. It is possible to move the directory that is used (see somewhere in http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/guides/E2k3TechRef/f4fb781c-5d7a-495b-9f53-b09aa8c4ddf8.mspx). You could of course set your permissions on the directory to prevent files being written there, but the consequences of this are beyond my reckoning - I do not advise this because I don't know the consequences, it's just an idea that comes to me.
