Microsoft Mail Internet Headers Version 2.0

    Accepted Solution

The pickup service is part of the SMTP transport (?) service which picks up files from the disc.  Most POP3 "connectors" are nothing more than POP3 dumpers - they dump the messages retrieved via POP3 into the pickup directory of the virtual server, typically C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1\PickUp.  The relevant Exchange service then picks up the file & processes it.

I do not know of an option to switch off that functionality.  It is possible to move the directory that is used (see somewhere in  You could of course set your permissions on the directory to prevent files being written there, but the consequences of this are beyond my reckoning - I do not advise this because I don't know the consequences, it's just an idea that comes to me.
