MS-SQL hosting backup and restpre via sql files

Hi.

I have some MS_SQL databases I handle with Enterprise Manager. I am looking into a hosting service that has its own SQL interface and they do not seem to have the equivalent of import export data.

I know they should be able to give the tech support  but apparently I cannot explain my question properly.  The only thing I see is the backup and restore of .sql files.

Any ideas?

Most web hosts that I have dealt with don't have a clue when it comes to backing up databases correctly.  Set up a DTS job to copy all of the objects to your server.  Poor man's backup, but better than the open-file backups they are likely doing.

Thanks but I cannot find the way to do anything except create tables and giving them ODBC access.

So what is your real question here?  Sorry to be dense, but I'm not sure what you want us to solve :-)

From Enterprise manager on your local machine, can you register the hosted server?

No. You can only use it through their interface.... With EM I can handle it ok.

I think you're stuck then, if they don't allow import/export :(  There are other hosts that allow you to connect via IP/username/password

Exactly, get a real host, or live with the requirements this host forces on you...
