I need to configure the  Linksys "Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports"

and

Linksys     "Wireless-G Broadband Router"

to work off a single cable modem

I had the wireless router previously, and now I have switched to Vonage for my phone service (telephone over broadband)  ....so they sent me the with 2 phone ports...no wireless.

So, I know I could easily get a wireless access point and plug it into the phone port router, but I would rather find a way to make what I currently have work, and work well.   Does anyone understand this well enough to help

You can use your Wireless router as an access point. Simply plug the "uplink" port to the new router and disable DHCP on the wireless router. Nothing plugged into the WAN port of the wireless router, and you've just made it into an AP..

um..geez...I guess it isn't so difficult...haha.   thanks for the help.  Just so I understand correctly.   I plug my cable modem directly into phone port router, then plug the wireless router into one of the outs from the phone port router....disable dhcp on the wireless router, and don't use it's outs...right?

thanks in advance.

Yes, except that you can still use the wireless router's "outs" or LAN ports if you want, it's just an extenstion of the voice router's switch ports now.

In the world of WAN, QoS is a pretty important topic for most, if not all, networks. Some WAN technologies have QoS mechanisms built in, but others, such as some L2 WAN's, don't have QoS control in the provider cloud.
