I am running Windows 2003 on a ECS K7S5A. This board has an onboard AC97 and I also have a spare creative soundcard. I first tried using the onboard. Installed all drivers from ECSs website and I think I got some drivers from the makers of the AC97 chip. In device manager, the soundcard is there, and working properly. But, no multimedia controller, thus, windows media declares I have no sound. So I went into my bios, turned off the AC97, uninstalled the drivers, did all that stuff and popped in the creative sound card. Same story. Soundcard is installed, no multimedia controller. So, I researched, and found that I should install some SIS driver, but windows didnt seem to think I needed it, it wouldnt accept it as a needed driver. So I uninstalled all soundcards, everything I could, to start over...Nothing
It's been a while, but I think I had sound working in a previous version of windows, and I know I had it working in a distribution of Linux. Any clues?
