General network error. Check your network documentation

We have various DTS and replication jobs running nightly between 10 SQL servers, about 20 jobs between the group.
roughly once or twice we week we will see the error below and be forced to restart a DTS job which will then work fine.
Any ideas?

ConnectionRead (recv()). [SQLSTATE 01000]
Msg 11, Sev 16: General network error. Check your network documentation. [SQLSTATE 08S0

Doubt it's a hardware issue as it occurs at completly random intervals and run diagnostic on server comes up clean.
Possible server is too busy, will need to monitor CPU and see if we are getting spikes in conjunction with the failures.

Not necessarily a hardware error.  Can also indicate VERY heavy IO.  Take a look at Windows Perfmon.  Anything else running on the server besides SQL Server?

Here is a good MS checklist as well:

So....which was it?  Hardware or Server too busy?
seems to be server too busy.  we reduced the load a bit and are getting error less often.
Good deal.  Any reason for the C grade?  If you had additional questions I would have been happy to answer them :-)
