how can I hide members of a OU from the GAL?

I have an organizational unit that contains accounts added in batch... the accounts need to all be hidden from the global address list.  It's a huge pain to go through them 1 at a time and hide them.

Is there a way I can use group policy to hide all accounts in that OU from the GAL?  I've played with this for a while and can't find a way...

Unfortunately, no.
It might be possible to create a custom address book view that includes all OUs but that OU....but I don't think that is possible, last I remember.

So how would a busy sysadmin go about doing this then?  I can't imagine they actually go through the accounts 1 by 1 and hide them.

What can be dont to get this done quickly and easily?

you can use a script to set the attribute in active directory for the users in that OU

Set objColUsers = GetObject _
 ("LDAP://ou=users,dc=domain,dc=com")

For Each objUser In objColUsers
      ObjUser.msExchHideFromAddressLists = True
      objUser.SetInfo
Next

this is a simple vbscript that will set the attribute to hide the accounts from the Address lists... ofcourse change the ou information to match your domain...

yeah, my lack of programming skills makes things more difficult sometimes.

I just ran the script, worked like a charm... I'll go ahead and close out this question

Thanks much for the help.
