Visual Studio & HTML Formatting

Hi All,

I'm using Visual Studio 2003 for the HTML development. If I add components via the designer to my aspx page the HTML code gets messed up and the formatting is a nightmare.

Is there a way to prevent VStudio from reformatting the HTML?

And NO I do not want to use a diffent tool, has to be VStudio 2003

Thanks
Peter

No. You can use VS 2003 though and use an external editor for html files, if that would satisfy you :)

Go to Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> HTML/XML -> Format. You can uncheck any check box you don't want.

Nothing much you can do. MS has fixed this in VS.NET 2005 (and has made this XHTML compliant too). All you can do is after adding the component in design view, to switch to HTML view and do a control+z. Sometimes that gets the format back.

Or alternatively, avoid the design mode, when you can.

I had posted something on this question previously.

See ->  http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Dot_Net/ASP_DOT_NET/Q_21379949.html

There is a workaround, but it is not extremely easy to implement.  You are probably better off getting VS2005

I have decided to wait for VS 2005 as we can not afford to make any major changes in the development cycles now
