"async default ip address" vs. "peer default ip address"
Hi.
I'd like to know the difference between those two commands. I know that in theory, the peer command assigns an address to the host - in practice it assigns to the line itself. But then, the async command, assigns the address to the line as well...
So what the catch here?
Cheers.

What is the context for those commands? i'm not aware of them.

I've just consulted the "Cisco IOS in a nutshell". Those commands are the same!!! The difference is "async default ip address" command is obsolete.
But to answer your question, this is a command used to assign an ip address to a remote dial-in host.
Cheers.
