Oracle user system default password

i have forgotten (never got) my user 'system' password in Oracle 9.2.

is there a way to find it?

try this.but in oracle 9i release version 2,while you are installing it will ask to change the password....

check it out......

it doesnt ask me to change it.

have you setup an Oracle DB on Linux before?

If you can login to the Linux shell account as the 'oracle' user (or whoever installed the database), then you can execute the following commands:

 sqlplus '/ as sysdba'
 alter user system identified by whatever;

where 'whatever' is replaced by what you want the system password to be.
