Windows 2000 Server SP4 running Exchange.

Event ID 2510 - The server service was unable to map error code 1355. There will be between 4 and 8 per minute sporadically over a 30 minute period of time and then not show up again for 6 to 8 hours?

I have been unsuccessful in tracking down a resolution to this problem. The few links I was able to find, pointed toward DNS. I completely rebuilt DNS and the event starting showing up again about 6 hours later.

Any thoughts?

The Server Event 2510 "The server service was unable to map error code 1355."

    - can occur when a client on the network sends a malformed network packet that is processed by the server service.

-This error has been seen when there is a MAC OSX client or UNIX SAMBA client attempting to broadcast for a Windows 2000 server .

-To find out which client is sending bad packets, get a network trace of all of the traffic to the server and then match up the time of the event in the event log with the data in the trace.

-Use the Source IP Address to track down which client sent the bad data.

Bingo. There are only two MAC's in the office and the get in the office and connect and then 6 - 8 hours later they leave. I can handle if from here.

Thanks for the super fast response.

I have a similar problem - How do I keep the MACs from sending this bad data to the server?
