I have a fairly good grasp on networking so I am puzzled why I don't understand nor can find anything clear cut definition of what this option is on my LinkSYS BEFSR41 Broadband router. It is disabled by default. What does enabling it do?

Also what about the option to Filter the IDENT(113). It is also disabled by default.

The Filter Internet NAT Redirection option is used to disable local LAN users from accessing port forwarded services in the router.

IDENT is a service that uses port 113. It's the source of many exploits. Maliciouse users can use the service to find out information about you. It is best to leave it blocked.

    hope this helps.
