API for Visual Basic to use Windows XP "Wireless Network Connection" to msure WiFi antenna distance


I would like to use Windows XP "Wireless Network Connection" to msure the distance to a WiFi antenna.
My appliecation is writen in Visual Basic.
Can someone post a sample code using API

I'm unaware of any capability in the 802.11 wireless networking scheme or in the Windows implementation of this that would allow even a rough distance measurement to an antenna.

Yes, there is an API for managing 802.11 connections under Windows.  There are several sources of information but a good starting point is the Microsoft document:


Another useful thing to look at is the NDISPROT sample from the Windows Server 2003 DDK.  (There is also the NDISUIO sample in the XP DDK but the NDISPROT sample is more up-to-date.)
