Greetings..

On our new Exchange network, I have a laser jet 4300 installed with an Envelope Feeder, manual feed tray (Tray 1), the built in tray (Tray 2) and a Tray 3 which holds 1500 pages.

The driver for the 4300 is PCL 5e (60.5.30.4).

On the desktop I am using Word 2003 (SP1), Windows XP Professional.

When I select paper tray 3 in File, Page Setup, I print to Tray 2
When I select paper tray 3 in File, Page Setup and in Print Options Default Tray and in File, Print, Preferences, Paper/Quality Source, I print to Tray 2.

I would very much appreciate any suggestions or assistance you may office.

Thank you.

Hi RobertaGelb,

Since all your prints are coming from the same tray I would suggest checking your printer config in windows. to do this:

1. Select  - Start | Printers and Faxes
2. Right click the printer you are printing to and select Printing Preferences
3. This may vary depending on the driver but on my printer there is a tab called Paper/Quality, on this tab there is a single drop down list specifying paper source in order for you to ba able to select the tray from word this needs to be set to Automatically Set

THANK YOU!  That response alone was worth the annual fee!!!

Your answer put me on the right track  In addition to Tray change, I had to change the Type to either "unspecified" or "auto select" depending on the printer.

I can now write the macro to pick the correct tray for letterhead....Thanks again!!!
