Does the autoarchive setting "permanently delete old items" put the email into the "deleted" folder or does it wipe out the email completely?

    Accepted Solution

Archiving simply moves the data to a .pst file called archive.pst. In an exchange environment, "off the server" to local storage.

Archiving helps keep the main .pst file smaller (and basically more efficient).  You can always add the old "archived" items via the FILE - OPEN OUTLOOK DATA FILE at any time you want, move items between them.

Yes, if you choose permanently delete old items in the archive options, it will delete old items permanently.  Eg. not to the recycle bin
