Hi,

I am using SQL to access the tables of a database (MS-SQL, MS-Access). The frequent calls take a long time so I would like to transfer some tables with the most frequent calls to RAM.
Question:
Any idea how to swap some tables to RAM ?  I want to use the same SQL-statements and just change the ADOConnection !

Thanks

Hi again KPBecker,

The only thing I have used to store tables data outside of an ADO object is by using a component/unit I have called a TXMLTable.
It basically works in the following way ...
1) use an ADOQuery object to retrieve all the data from a table you need
2) assign TXMLTable.Dataset := ADOQuery. This stores all the data in a format I can use to search by fieldname, eof etc etc.
3) you can then free the ADO object and store some global TXMLTables that will now be available for the lifetime of the application, or until you update the data.

If this is of help to you I could post the unit here for use.

Hi Mike,

I am not quite sure if I understand how your suggestion works.
Any experience with client-datasets ?

Up to now I read the database-table into an array and seek by program, but this is very specific in every new case.

Thanks,
