Crystal Reports

Since I never used crystal reports I have some questions.

Question 1:
I want to load a dataset into a report.

So I made a form that has a report viewer on it.

I made a variable: private ds as new dataset.
In the form_load event I placed the code to load all data in this dataset.

Now I have to get everything in the report.

Also what happens if you press the refresh button on the report viewer ?

Can you help me with this ?

Question 2:
I'm working with an MDI application. Is it possible to integrate the toolbar from the report viewer in the toolbar of the MDI application ?

Question 3:
Since it's an MDI application, I also disabled the statusbar of the report viewer since I have one on my own.

Is there a property to get the current page and the total pages of the report ? So I can get this at the bottom of the report of each page and in my statusbar ?

It should also have to change if there is another form active.

Can someone help me with this ?

Thanks for the Url, but letting the report go directly to the database isn't an option for me.

I have create a function that locks the database, so the only way to enter the database is to first unlock it through code.

For the moment I created a typed dataset (xsl file). And it seem that the report loads dataset (bind dataset to report). So I hope this also is a good solution.

I wonder now, what do I have to do if I distribute the application. It's a windows app. Do I also need the XSD and RPT files ? Or is everything build in the exe file ?

I still can't find anything about the other question in my first message.

Can you assist me with this ?

I should almost forget my most important question.

How can you disable those tooltips in a report ?

Well if you read that link you would understand that its probably the best thing to do it that way, and why could you not unlock the database prior to loading the rerport and doing what you have to do then locking it back down again?

And in answer to you questions

    1)  I answered

    2) No

    3) Not until you run the report, you could check the properties of the report but I am not sure this can be read back to be honest with you. may have the answer to number 3, but as it unknown until the viwere display/runs the report I doubt that you can read it back but I see if I can find out.

    Ok thanks!!

I only have one last question. I tried the app on another comuter, and there I get the error: Cannot find CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine ...

Which dll files do I have to copy to the GAC to make it work ? And where can I find them ?

When you create a setup and deployment package you need to add specific merge modules, and this will dpend on whether your using the one that comes with Visual Studio .Net or Cr 9/10. has the information that you need to supply merge modules, and tells you how to apply the serial/key to the regwiz merge module. Sorry I don't know the exact url just do a search for .net merge module
