Best Way to back up Saved Email in Outlook 2003 with files attached?

Changing to a new server today.

We are also using a new domain name.

I dont have a prob saving peoples contacts and emails  using out look's export feature.

The problem I have is that the VP has saved emails that have files attached.  A bunch of them.

HOW is the best way to back these up and get them restored unde the new profile for the new domain?

SERVER - 2003 w/SP1 as PDC

Client = XP w/sp2

Outlook from office 2003.

mrchaos101,
I've used exmerge to do this...it can dump an entire mailbox into a .pst file...you can then take that .pst file and use exmerge to put the .pst file back into the new exchange server mailbox.

Exchange Server Mailbox Merge Wizard

hope this helps.

we are not using exchange.

Our mail is though our web host.

Office Outlook is installed on the clinet pc and obtains the mail by means of pop3...

could I copy said .pst file and just put it where it should go on the new profile?

here is a neat program that will backup your .pst file to a desired location whenever you close outlook.

pfbackup.exe

Then you probably already have a local pst file on the workstation which would have those mails with the attachments inside. Search that PC for pst files and just to make sure it contains the important data you could test this pst file on another PC.

oh i forgot to read the entire question.

go to File --> Import and Export and just export the files to your desired format.

Then copy the file to the new computer and use the same File --> Import to import all the mail.  It will setup the folders for you.

mychaos,

have a look at ...
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

the .pst's are already there =)

The users can log in and click on CONTACTS on the side and it shows their contacts.
