JScrollPane Manipulation

I am writing a card game.  I do all the background graphics in photoshop and I want the java components to match my custom graphics.  Specifically the JScrollPane.  What kind of manipulation can I do on this.   I want the JViewport to be invisible for one.  I don't want that "3D" look.  I also would like to customize the scroll bar.  I understand the latter probably would require my own class, but is the first possible?  Making an invisible viewport?

Thats certainly possible, to change the appearance of any component requires you to write a custom UI.

To get rid of the 3D look you just need to change/rmove the border on the viewport/scrollpane using the setBorder() method.
