It is taking too long for HTML files to load from our application server while

.tif and ( especiallly ) .pdf files load much much faster

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

It always depends on the content you have taken in your HTML page, if you got larger content then it may be slowed down the loading time from the server, because server has to get the whole content from the page and display it on to the browser. It may be the problem.
