Email with attachment stuck in Outlook Inbox

I have an email with an 18Mb attachment stuck in my oulook 2003 inbox.  The outlook account is a client for an Hotmail account.  I have tried opening Oulook in safe mode and deleting the mail in various ways - including Shift+Del.

Any other ideas?

First, try this method: http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/stuck_message.htm (althought I don't think it will work with Hotmail, but it won't hurt to try).

Hotmail accounts don't actually store any emails on your local machine... so you can safely delete the entire email account and then recreate it, which should solve the problem of your attachment.  But before doing that, please clarify that the attachment is stuck in your "INBOX"??  or your "OUTBOX"??

Because if it's in the INBOX, you would probably also need to delete the message from Hotmail via the web.  But if it's in your OUTBOX, then it only exists in Outlook.

You need to do the following:
Close Outlook
Backup any .pst file you may have (C:\documents and settings\yourname\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\*.*)
Delete your Outlook user profile (Start > Right click on Outlook/Email or access Mail settings in the control panel)
Open Outlook -- this will automatically create a new profile and step you through the add account wizard.
Restore your .pst files (if any) to the original directory.
Add back any other email accounts you may have had (if any).
