How do we calculate jitter in a Voip application. What is the algorithm.?

How do we calculate jitter in a Voip application. What is the algorithm.?

I have read the RFC 1889 and found that it is too difficult to understand.
Can I have a detailed description on the way we calculate jitter of packets

From what i understand there is no real way to calculate it.

I believe it is based on how the networks "currently is" meaning you would have to take into account a completely dynamic system that changes almost minute by minute.(next to impossible on global networks).

There is one thing that i think you can try.. Statistics.

essentially, you would take a measurement about twice a minute for the jitters. every day for a month. and store the results.you would then create a plot based on that information.

All in all though, it might be better to hire a pro to do the statistics.
