I have the same problem as pmsr2828 11/29/2004

I have tried using two of the tools mentioned. However, despite a lot of activity by these tools no files are shown as recovered or capable of being recovered. I am at a loss as to how to proceed from here? Help please.

    >> same problem as pmsr2828 <<  Here is the link if anyone needs it:

    Which programs did you try?
    Diskpart and Testdisk?

If it says "no files are shown as recovered or capable of being recovered", you might be out of luck.   : (

    More tools here:

Run one of these, and see if thay show anything:

    Disk Investigator (freeware):

Download link on there for Eval version

Even more things to check out.

It's amazing. A bootable cd with a great compilation of utilities and recovery apps including various versions of DOS and linux, a few DOS AVs, HD utilities, etc.

To everyone - many thanks for your help. I tried again with the tools mentioned. My internal hard disks are NTFS. I originally tried using the tools recommended, on the asumption that the problem external USB drive was also NTFS. In playing around, I discovered that the file system was FAT32 and using the tools recommended I have recovered all of my files. I have then formatted the USB drive (200 gig) in the NTFS format and all is A OK.
