We have, through Group Policy, redirected the users My Documents and Application data folders to the network. Also, policy grants exclusive permissions to the SYSTEM and user only. Without having to take ownership, does anyone know of a way to report on the contents of the users My Documents folder?

We have tried the solution available at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;288991 in a test environment but only have had success with this working on newly created users ... existing users in place prior to the solution being applied remain "locked down"

try using Robocopy (Robust File Copy Utility) part of the Win2k3 Res Kit with the Logging options turned on.

robocopy [source] [destination] /L /X /V /TS /FP /LOG:+[location]

EG: robocopy D:\Data\Users X:\Data\Robo\Users /L /X /V /TS /FP /Log+:X:\Data\Robo\stats.txt

 Logging Options :

/L :: List only - don't copy, timestamp or delete any files.
/X :: report all eXtra files, not just those selected.
/V :: produce Verbose output, showing skipped files.
/TS :: include source file Time Stamps in the output.
/FP :: include Full Pathname of files in the output.

/NS :: No Size - don't log file sizes.
/NC :: No Class - don't log file classes.
/NFL :: No File List - don't log file names.
/NDL :: No Directory List - don't log directory names.

/NP :: No Progress - don't display % copied.
/ETA :: show Estimated Time of Arrival of copied files.

/LOG:file :: output status to LOG file (overwrite existing log).
/LOG+:file :: output status to LOG file (append to existing log).

/TEE :: output to console window, as well as the log file.
