Reddy,

You handle this just like any other parameter - you don't need the wildcard character.  What I would do is use something other than "" as your default value because you may run into problems using the blank in your URL (Crystal may think it's missing an prompt for it).  I would consider changing your formula to something like this:

(if {?Summary}="all" then true else
{REPORTER_STATUS.SUMMARY} startswith {?Summary})

Then your URL would be either: ...&promptex-summary=all     -or-   ...&promptex-summary=SomeValue

Hello frodoman i agree with you but to give ALL i need to go and specify it in default values and this results in drop down box in my virtual viewer.

But my requirement is to have only text boxes. The user may enter a value in the text box or he may not. If he dosent enter a value then it should take all the values in that particular field.

Thankyou,
reddy.

Reddy,

Are you building your URL as a text string in your application?  What I've done in the past is to handle that in my application and dynamically determine what to put in the URL.  That way you don't have to modify your selection dropdown - something like this:

dim sURL, sSummaryParam

sURL = "http://pc-oreddy/reports/testevent.rpt?user0=crystal&...etc..."

if request.form("txtSummary") = "" then sSummaryParam = "all" else sSummaryParam = request.form("txtSummary")

sURL = sURL & "&promptex-summary=" & sSummaryParam
